Past Exhbitions -- September 200440 Years and Counting: Eckerd College Visual Arts Alumni, 1964 - 2004
Eckerd College Visual Arts graduates present their artwork spanning a forty year period using all types of media from painting to ceramics to performance art captured on video. Over 35 artists will be on display including Paul Eppling, Bede Clark and Neverne Covington. This exhibition depicts the valuable role Eckerd College graduates play in our community. Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School offers one of the best Art Magnet programs in the country. Much of its success can be attributed to the instructors and their commitment to the students. This exhibition showcases the instructors' talents outside the classroom and exemplifies why they excel in their professional arts careers. The participants are David Malcolm Bewley, Myron Hansen, Alan Johnson, Laurance Miller and Joyce Ely-Walker. Working in plein-air tradition, ceramics, self-portraits, sculpture and assemblages, these artists display their gift for the arts. Pinellas Opportunity Council Inc. Summer Youth Project has created an exhibition designed to redefine the public image of low-income neighborhoods through the use of photography. Families in selected areas are paired with volunteer photographers to document the elements of their lives, their families, and their community. |
