Students will also learn a variety of techniques, terms, cultures and history to aid them in expressing their personal thoughts and feelings through their works of art. Additionally, students will gain an understanding and knowledge of other cultures and time periods related to art and how much of the world's art has been created to help meet the needs of daily life in many career fields such as horticulture, drafting and publicity. As time permits at the end of each class we will talk about creating an art portfolio. Students will learn traditional drawing methods and develop their own unique style. A wide range of still life forms - organic objects, casts, skeleton, etc. - will allow students to work from direct observation. Class lessons will include: how to create line and tone, understanding value through light and shadow and interaction of color. Geared for the early teen, we'll cover the basics of throwing, trimming and glazing finished ceramic pieces. Using slab and coil techniques, students will create decorative and functional mugs, bowls, and boxes. Along with handbuilding, learn basic clay facts and different glazing techniques. Materials Fee: $18 Teen ProgramCartooning and DrawingMichael LymanSaturday, 12:30pm to 2pmSession 2 • Ages 13-16Course code 874Experience an entry-level drawing class which adapts to each student's skill level and interests. For complete novices to more experienced artists, students learn to draw what interests them, rather than being told what to draw. Emphasis is placed on sketching, different techniques, and learning how to draw objects and figures. Discussions during class focus on different art and graphic novel styles, exposing students to different artistic viewpoints. Materials List |
