Tuesday Afternoon with Jewelry

In a sharing and supportive atmosphere, beginning students are encouraged to learn to saw, file, rivet, and shape their own jewelry designs in brass and copper. Beginning students may also create pendants and simple chains. The jeweler's torch will be added as needed. Intermediate students will be assisted in adding to their skills and the complexity of their creations. Students may supply their own silver. Come prepared with some ideas and let's have fun!

This class is for begining jewelry students who need to learn basic skills.including sawing, piercing, forming, joining and finishing metals. These are the basic skills that have been used over time in creating jewelry. In this hands on class, students complete three pieces of work and will be able to continue on to an intermediate level.

Wednesday Independent Jewelry Study

Have you taken Introduction to Silversmithing - Jewelry 1? Are you still excited about learning new techniques and incorporating them into your own designs? This class is for you. Become more confident in soldering, setting and forming. Make new rings, earrings and pendants. Bezel set and gypsy set faceted stones, and make a fabulous hand-forged sterling linked bracelet. Come with ideas of where you would like your jewelry designs to go. We will talk about how to set up a jewelry space for your home. Prerequisite: Intro. to Silversmithing or Jewelry 1.

Lost-Wax Casting

Learn the fundamentals of the lost-wax casting process! This course includes lessons in making a rubber mold, creating and spruing a wax model, investing the wax model in a flask, burning it out, and casting a finished product. Instructor will cover the use of casting as applied to the creation of jewelry and works of art.
